Remember when we danced

by Megan Rochlin

art by Emma Eisler

Remember when we danced

And my skin felt like your skin

Remember tiny volcanos and hands held in hands

Persephone was never fucked like this

Remember when we were fish

And we moved together a school of silver and gold

Iridescent scales flashing

Remember when vodka made all of us beautiful

And we glittered like kings

And gleamed like statues and citadels

Remember when we loved like Venus fly traps

And we dissolved our lovers

Between interlocking teeth

Remember when red wine spills shaped like California

Stained our white canvas shoes

And our clothes smelled of ashes

Remember when we stole the glow of the moon

to press between our lips

and just for a moment you loved me?
